Competence Center for Minimally Invasive Medicine & Technology Tübingen - Tuttlingen (MITT)
MITT works together with around 400 medical technology companies and Tübingen's university clinic, ITV Denkendorf, NMI Reutlingen, the Karlsruhe research center and Fachhochschule Furtwangen - University of Applied Sciences on several research projects in the areas of instrument systems, robotics, laser technology, materials management and control, information processing and ergonomics. A multi-faceted network has developed here due to the concentrated technical competence.
An exemple of this is the human-machine-interface project, which is being conducted in cooperation with the section for minimally invasive invasive surgery at the Klinik für Allgemeinchirurgie (General Surgery Clinic) of the University of Tübingen, the Institut für Steuerung der Werkzeugmaschinen und Fertigungsanlagen (Institute for Control of Machine Tools and Production Plants) of the University of Stuttgart and the Aesculap company.

Kompetenzzentrum Medizin-Technik Rhein-Neckar-Dreieck (Medical Technology Competence Center, Rhine-Neckar Triangle)
Around 9% of the people employed in research and development in Baden-Württemberg work in leading research institutes, such as the German German Cancer Research Center or the Karlsruhe Research Center. The Medical Technology Competence Center was founded following the example of the Rhine-Neckar Triangle Bioregion to expand existing cooperations. The high concentration of universities and the university of applied sciences in Mannheim provide a very high labor force potential, precisely in the areas of medicine and medical technology. Networking also includes joint projects, such as the "Operating Room 2010" project with the Tübinger MITT, which is supported by the state with 0.511 million euros. The network is supported by Friadent, GAP, Klinikum Mannheim GmbH, Maquet, Siemens and ID GmbH.
