Biotech companies can find an ideal environment for business success in the BioRegion STERN. Two biotech start-up centers at the locations of Esslingen, Reutlingen and Tübingen provide office and laboratory space with high-class building infrastructure and a professional location management in direct proximity of the research institutions.

Life Science Center Esslingen

The Life Science Center Esslingen (LSC) has been a new address for innovative ideas in the City of Esslingen since the beginning of the year 2000. Today the LSC Esslingen houses eight biotechnology companies with about 50 employees. The LSC is an important basis for the successful development of companies in the BioRegion. On 2,000 sqm the young biotech companies are not only provided with office- and laboratory space at fair rents, but with real start-up support.

For the financial support of its start-ups and young companies the City of Esslingen founded a Life Sciences fund in 2002, which has a total contributing sum of around 2.6 million Euros. The supporters in Esslingen put emphasis on an unbureaucratic and effective procedure. Financial support can be used for upcoming investments or current working process.

Tübingen, Reutlingen - two locations, one concept

Already more than 30 biotechnology companies have been founded out of Tübingen University and extra-faculty research institutions. As centers for research and development the two locations make a perfect fit. The cities of Tübingen and Reutlingen have signed cooperation contracts with the L-Bank for the installation of an intercommunal technology park Tübingen-Reutlingen.

With a total amount of 18,000 sqm, the technology parks Tübingen Reutlingen (TTR) today are Germany's largest start-up center for biotechnology. Both locations have representative buildings and special property at their disposal, ranging from office to cleanroom, whose technical equipment can perfectly be adjusted to a company's individual needs. The flexible and modern structure of the centers enables an easy retrofitting or enhancement. Behind the scenes TTR's technical management takes care of smooth processes and ensures the operation of the cleanroom facilities, enabling an undisturbed working environment for the scientists.
