Baden-Württemberg offers companies in the waste disposal business outstanding location-specific conditions - with special university programs, networks and research and technology transfer centers. Learn more about companies, locations, facilities and cooperation opportunities.
The far-reaching, restrictive shaping of the legal situation by the state parliament within the framework of competing legislation as well as its enforcement have demanded higher perfomance from industry than in any other German state. The greatest possible avoidance of waste is achieved through suitable product design, production processes, plant-internal recirculation systems and integrated, media-independent environmental protection.
Water - Water supply in Baden-Württemberg - efficient and secure
Water supply facilities in Baden-Württemberg are distinguished by a high degree of capability and security and are able to provide the population drinking water of the highest quality at all times. A very linked water supply structure in the state ensures both an optimal use of local water resources and water sharing between the areas in Baden-Württemberg with a surplus of water and those with a lack of water.
High-quality and low-cost solutions were developed to ensure supply security and the highest quality of drinking water while simultaneously ensuring economical handling. In Baden-Württemberg, you will find all technologies and sizes for sourcing, preparing, and distributing water as well as for waste-water treatment.
Exhaust air - Pollution control and cleaning exhaust in Baden-Württemberg
The strict German and, meanwhile, European regulations for maintaining clean air as well as a generally increased environmental consciousness have resulted in development in Germany, and particularly in Baden-Württemberg, of emission-reduction techniques that both minimize production of air pollution and effectively clean exhaust gases.
If the German and, in particular, the Baden-Württemberg environmental protection industry enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide, it is also due to its offering of multi-faceted and ingenious exhaust-cleaning facilities as well as of individual problem solutions in this industrial process sector.
The cooperation between industry and the state's university institutes has proved its value in developing new emission-reduction processes or further developing existing ones. Since many industrial companies cannot afford their own environmental-protection or air-cleanliness departments, various engineering offices that advise industry and work out emission-reduction concepts have been set up. Through special exhaust examinations and regular plant monitoring, measuring institutes make a contribution to reliably working exhaust-gas facilities.
With Allweiler AG, Mall GmbH and Eisenmann Maschinenbau KG, important German manufacturers of these technologies call Baden-Württemberg their home. And international companies, such as the DISA Group, one of the world's largest manufacturers of air-pollution-control systems, have also established themselves in the state.
Besides the system producers, leading German service-providers, such as U-Plus Umweltservice AG or RWE Umwelt AG, have important locations in Baden-Württemberg.

Umweltzentrum Vaihingen/Enz (Environment Center Vaihingen/Enz)
The goal of the Vaihingen Environmental Center is to attract established companies and start-ups in all areas of process and environmental engineering. The companies profit here from technology and marketing advice, reduced rents, an extensive office infrastructure as well as conferences and symposia. Sponsor of the Environmental Center are the city of Vaihingen and the company Goema.
Environmental Engineering Competence Center – KURS
KURS is a network of science, business, municipalities, service-providers, associations and other organizations and actors in the Stuttgart region and in Baden-Württemberg in the areas of environmental engineering, environmental economicas and sustainable economic activity.
The bundled competence can be found in the various institutes of the University of Stuttgart (neighborhood water construction, water quality and waste-disposal business; process engineering and steam boiler technology). The Hochschule für Technik (Stuttgart Univesity of Applied Sciences), the Fraunhofer Institute for Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnology IGB and the Vaihingen Environment Center have integrated themselves into the network as important partners in research.
