Alone the naked figures, which are no less impressive as a result, speak for themselves: more than 750 exhibitors and 310,000 square feet of net exhibition floor space for MOTEK, plus just under an additional 100 exhibitors and more than 21,000 square feet of net exhibition floor space for BONDexpo. And thus the trade fair duo comprised of MOTEK and BONDexpo are in a league of their own, or expressed in other terms: The market has spoken once again and is setting its course for the automation technology region in Stuttgart and its surrounding areas which is deemed exemplary at the international level. Alone with the considerably more than 750 exhibitors who have registered for MOTEK already (i.e. 5 months before the event opens!), the tradition-rich trade fair is running at full bore towards its 30th round. Beyond this, there’s certainly no lack of internationalism at the industry event that grew up and is at home in southern Germany, because 30 years of MOTEK means 30 years of expansion and, finally, 30 participating countries!
A Comprehensive Information Package
In addition to technology, product and system offerings presented by more than 750 exhibitors, the theme parks, special shows and forums will also make their contribution, so that expert visitors from all over the world will be provided with a comprehensive information, communication and business package. Especially worthy of note in this area is the Baden Württemberg Nationwide Mechatronics Network (Landesweite Netzwerk Mechatronik Baden Württemberg GmbH) with theme parks covering the topics of “Mechatronics” as well as “Training & Research”, and the Arena of Innovation AOI which will be held for the second time. If we can believe the sales and growth figures recently released by the relevant associations regarding industrial automation and handling, we can expect an increase in turnover of more than 15% in 2011. Together with somewhat more than 20% growth experienced in 2010, that would amount to an impressive 35% and more, although the actual sales volume would then “only” correspond to the levels achieved during the last boom in 2007 and 2008. But prospects are changing once again, because continuing globalisation of production capacities is forcing manufacturing companies and their suppliers to rely upon extensive automation in all sectors.
Guaranteed Process Sequence Synergies!
This is being made plainly apparent by the fact that, for example, numerous new exhibitors from inside and outside of Germany have registered to participate at the MOTEK international trade fair for assembly, handling and automation technology in order to make their presence felt in the demanding European market. The situation is similar for the concurrently held BONDexpo trade fair for industrial bonding technology, which is experiencing sensational floor space growth amounting to 18%, and will break the 100 mark with regard to exhibitor numbers for the first time in its thus far brief history. All of the exhibition floor space earmarked for BONDexpo is booked out, because not only will nearly all of the market leader be on hand, but rather application specialists from the areas of dosing, gantry handling and robot systems as well. And conceptual collaboration partners such as the IFAM Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Applied Materials Research and the Transfer Centrum Kleben TC (bonding transfer centre) will round out the information offerings in a custom tailored fashion. The process sequence is thus brought full circle for expert visitors, within which bonding, sealing, foaming, encapsulation and insulation all play an important role.
The Schall Group of Companies
Trade fair promoter P.E. Schall GmbH & Co. KG organises six different public exhibitions in Germany and 20 technical trade fairs at the international level. Motek (handling technology), Control (quality assurance) and Optatec (optical technologies) are the world’s leading events in their respective industries. Fakuma (plastics processing) and Blechexpo (sheet metal processing) are each considered number two throughout the world. Trade fairs held at the new Stuttgart Exhibition Centre including Motek, Control and Blechexpo, occupied roughly 1,990,000 square feet of floor space in a total of 15 halls in 2009. Approximately 3000 companies exhibited their products and services on 12 trade fair days. 75,000 international guests visited the trade fair halls in Stuttgart during this time. Depending upon which events take place in each respective year, the Schall group generates an annual turnover of about €28 million with roughly 40 employees.
